Alstom South Africa and Alstom John Thompson re-branding

During September 2009, Alstom South Africa re-branded itself with a new name and corporate identity. The company, which previously shared its name and logo with its major principal, the Alstom Group, has been officially registered as AC­TOM (Pty) Ltd of which “John Thompson”, previously “Alstom John Thompson”, is a division of.

 Although our name is changing, we would like to assure you that everything else remains exactly the same as it has been since the group’s change of ownership in August 2008. We remain committed to providing world-class products and serv­ices to both our South African and global customer base and will continue to grow the electrical and mechanical engineering infrastructure in South Africa through the growth of local manufacture, investment and training. Our longstanding co-operative partnership with Alstom continues on the same basis as per the altered arrangements that took effect in August last year. ACTOM also continues to have exclusive distribution, technology and representa­tion rights for Southern Africa with Areva T&D, and maintains management, tech­nical and commercial links to Areva T&D business units in Europe.

 In addition to Areva and Alstom branded products and services, ACTOM has in­dependently developed a substantial range of products and services in a number of fields of activity. These fields include transmission & distribution products, in­dustrial electrical processes, drives and motors, fans, alternate and standby pow­er amongst others.
