John Thompson is listed by Lloyds Register of Industrial Services as an approved manufacturer of Class I fusion welded pressure vessels.
The company was the first in Africa to be certified by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and has authorisation and permission to use the official ASME code symbols.

Our Quality System is certified to ISO 9001: 2015 and listed accordingly. John Thompson has designed and built equipment in accordance with a number of international codes and specifications. These include AD Merkblatter, European Norm (EN), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), British Standard Specification (BS), Associazione Nazionale Controllo Combustione (ANCC, Italian), and Technische Regeln für Dampfkessel (TRD, German).
The Chinese government awarded us a Safety Quality Licence for boilers in 2001
Our Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Services Department and Laboratory provide comprehensive destructive and non-destructive services in all disciplines.
Our resident metallurgist is on the advisory technical committee for pressure equipment regulations for the Department of Labour. He is registered as a “Competent Person” for the inspection of boilers.
