JOHN THOMPSON supplies more biogas boilers to local industries

John Thompson, the Western Cape-based designer and manufacturer of industrial boilers and ancillary equipment, has recently supplied and installed four biogas-fired boilers for the brewery, winery and dairy industries – two Redipac reverse-flame boilers and two Enviropac three-pass, fully wetback boilers.

All boilers incorporate spiral-tube technology developed in John Thompson’s test centre and well-proven in over a thousand boiler installations. The use of spiral-tubes instead of plain tubes enhances heat transfer, improves boiler efficiency and reduces fuel consumption.

Several John Thompson biogas-fired boilers have been supplied to the local market in the past and these have reduced customers’ carbon dioxide emissions and reliance on fossil fuels.

Biogas is produced from the treatment of effluent using anaerobic digesters and can offset 10 % to 25 % of fuel requirements in the production of steam.

John Thompson is a division of ACTOM (Pty) Ltd, the largest manufacturer, solution provider, repairer and distributor of electro-mechanical equipment in Africa.
